Penang - part 2

Wow, what a long ride - left Bangkok at 6pm, changed in Surat Thani at 6am, then again in Hat Yai at 3pm, arriving here about 4pm.

Rumours along the way talked about an earthquake, too. Not that we would have felt it in the bus. But arriving here, I hear that last night the 8.7 earthquake that hit Sumatra could be felt for a minute or two here also. This is an interesting part of the world to be right now, it seems!

Met a nice British-Australian chap on the bus on the way down and it looks like we'll be looking around together tomorrow. A few other people met on the buses: a chatty French girl who had probably popped too many pills, an Englishman enjoying his first non-holidaying travels, a fairly vile group of Malaysian grandpas who'd been across the border for a sex holiday, and a Swiss-Malaysian gent who owns a palm plantation.

Very tired.
